Jim Lahey on Martha's show yesterday....

Did anyone catch MS's show yesterday? Jim Lahey was on and demonstated his no-bake bread recipe. It varied somewhat from the original recipe that was in the NY Times. Called for only 1 1/2 cups of water (not 1 5/8), which made the dough look less wet. No sticking to the towel that covered it while resting. The cooking time was slightly different also. Baked it @ 500* for 30 minutes with the lid on (which was the same), but 20-25 minutes with the lid off (original post was 15 to 30 min). When pulled from the oven, it looked delicious. Haven't checked to see how it's posted on her site.

    the updated measures- did the 2nd rise
    on a SILPAT sheet and covered bread with
    plastic wrap-much better that a tea towel!

    1. Don't you mean... NO-KNEAD bread recipe? Kind of an important point, I think.

      1. I've made this bread following the recipe in the N.Y. Times about six times and it has always turned out perfectly. That is, until I read this post and made it last night at 500 degrees instead of 450. The bottom of the bread was completely black after I took it out at 20 minutes after removing the lid. I don't know how Mr. Lahey can cook it for so long, but it certainly didn't work for me.
