Hi...

I'm going to be at the 92nd Street Y Sunday night.

I was wondering if any of you kind folks might have some suggestions as to where we might have a nice dinner before the lecture.

Thanks for your help.

I recently got some advice from Chowhounders for another NYC trip and the info was great!
Thanks so much!!!

Sfoglia which is right across the street. Also, if you want to venture a block or 2, Zebu on 92 b/t 1st and 2nd is fantastic Brazilian food. Ecco La, right around the corner on 3rd Ave just recently re-opened, casual italian including pizzas. Another casual place is Fetch (formerly Freds). I love their vegetarian wrap w/the amazing tomoto soup. Over on 2nd Ave and 94th is Nick's pizza. Highly recommended.

This thread has a lot of suggestions in the area -

I second Zebu, haven't been to Sfoglia but heard it's good. Pio Pio is great Peruvian chicken on 1st between 90th and 91st.

Also at Lexington Ave and about 102nd or 103rd is a newer place called Good Food, it was reviewed by New York Magazine last year. Great fresh fish.

An aside: Malagueta, a very good Brazilian restaurant in Queens, just opened a branch on the UES. Food is much better than Zebu. (I've been to the one in Queens several times, will try the new branch soon).

I noticed Malagueta recently, but it's down on 2nd Ave in the 80th. A bit far from the Y on a cold Sunday night!

Just adding this idea for future reference - Kurio's would also be a good choice - across the street from Zebu.

another laid back option would be Nina's (the Argentinian joint on 2nd bet 91&92). If it's still there (i haven't been there in a while) i'll definitely head there after the first session of the concerts curated by the Assad brothers on Sunday. But I wouldn't go there for a nice dinner, just for a casual Argentinian somewhat doughy pizza and empanadas.

It is still there - went by the other day - the 2nd Avenue subway construction has a way of obscuring places these days. There's also that newish BBQ place (Korean) that I've not yet tried.

Oh - and further west (but closed on Sundays) is Square Meal on 92nd between 5th and Madison.

For the love of all things holy, go to Sfloglia, which is one of the best restaurants in the city.

But be aware ... reservations are tough. Call WAY in advance.

It is also not open on Sundays. I do like it very much - not sure I'd consider it one of the best restaurants in the city, but I'd certainly consider it and Square Meal the best choices in the neighborhood.
