Is it me???????
What is up with Patricia Brooks' reviews???? I can't take it!!! Does anyone agree? She has taste in her feet (and I haven't seen her shoes).

i would love to start a petition to have her retire! stephanie lyness is much better and definitely qualified, knowing her training .re: brooks, i don't think she even visits most of the restaurants worth reviewing in the state/area. how such a prestigious newspaper could be so clueless about her reviewing strategy and style, is beyond me. i have heard she is rather "mature" as well and who knows what her palette is like as a result. our state's restaurants should be being reviewed by someone who has training or experience working in the craft and has a handle on the nation's if not the world's dining and cooking trends and scenes. she appears rather clueless in all areas and sticks to a few chefs/restaurants story after story. the ny times should be more objective. really. complain to her editor at the regional section (it covers nj, ct and westchester) at the times...

That her time has come! Her reviews are consistently inconsistent...her descriptions of the food and service rarely match her rating.

Agreed. My complaints are these: she reviews places way too early sometimes which is completely unfair to them. - She has overlooked some very good places for some political reason I guess. - Her tone is obsequious, Stephanie Lyness is a better writer and much more fair in her reviews.

Well, she certainly has her "pets"--I don't think she's ever eaten in an Italian restaurant or one in New Canaan that she didn't think was wonderful. Frankly, I just don't read her reviews anymore.

She lives in New Canaan. Her son Chris was best friends with my younger brother. And both went to school with Ann Coulter, who was a deadhead nazi even back then.

I haven't seen her reviews in years and years, but she must be nearly 80 by now. That might explain some things. And let's face it, Fairfield County is not exactly a foodie paradise.

Thanks, Pete. I was wondering who the ____ she was!

I think she's still good...what review(s) did you take issue with?

please, someone must have an opinion here....the frustration of going to a restaurant that was reviewed in the TImes.....being dissapointed yet again......and it is always her!
