Choosing between the harrison or Town or Red Cat?

Have friends coming into town and trying to find the best spot.

  1. I haven't been to Town, but the Harrison and Red Cat are owned by the same company. Food is very similar -- both very good with little pretense. With that in mind, I prefer the Harrison as the decor is more refined, probably more suitable for out-of-towners. I would describe Harrison as more of a "New York" restaurant. But Red Cat is charming if you're into the rustic sort of thing.

    1. Haven't been to Town, but to me, Red Cat is more NYC. Harrison is more refined, if that is the word, but also more bland (decor, atmosphere). Take them to Red Cat, then finish with a glass of sherry and some cheese at Tia Pol right next door. Either way, both are excellent.

Just so you are aware, Tia Pol is on the next block south of Red Cat. That combo would be a great choice!

      2. they put too much salt on everything or at least last night too bad as great bar

        1. i meant to say at town its too salty

          1. Town has great food.

            1. i'd vote for Red Cat as well...

              1. Town is not owned by the same company as Harrison or Red Cat.

                1. Never been to the Harrison but I like Red Cat over Town. The two times I went to Town, the service was very disappointing.

                  1. the sweetbreads at Red Cat...yum!

                    1. I went to The Harrison last night in a party of six. It was nothing short of a fantastic experience. Apps through dessert, everything we all ordered was fantastic.

Peeky-Toe crab appetizer was a real standout, along with the Carrot Cake and Lemon Tart desserts.
