best coffee house/latte in Pasadena? (near or in old town)
I am freelancing in Pasadena for a week, and it looks like it's going to be a cold one. Any suggestions for a decent coffee place (besides Peet's, Coffee Bean, or Starbucks) in Pasadena?

There's the Equator, which is on a little alley street off of Colorado near the main drag:

Little known fact about Equator: It was featured in an episode of "Beverly Hills 90210" as a gay coffee house that Brandon and Steve venture off to. In real life, it's not a gay coffee house, per se.
They have good sandwiches there too, and WiFi.

Besides Equator,
Zona Rosa. Cool artsy-Mexican coffee house with great chocolate drinks. It is just east of Old Pas, next to the Pasadena Playhouse.
Zephyr. It is in East Pasadena, not near Old Pas really but is probably the best coffee house in Pasadena. Good sandwiches and crepes and very comfy.
Also not in Old Pas but not too far away in South Pas are both Busters and Kaldi's in the mission district which are both comfy and good atmospherically.
I'd also throw in Europane bakery where they have free drip coffee refills (great coffee!) and will let you sit there forever basically. Great pastries of course as well.

I like Mi Piace on Colorado. Amazing espresso drinks, very flavorful. And I find it's very quiet on weekdays after about 9. Great for sitting with the NYT and a huge Capuccino and watching the world go by.

Equator is great at night! Went there for drinks between 9:00 and 12:00 pm Thursday Oct. 15. It was mixed and very Gay friendly. Drinks were as stiff as I was.

I would agree with the Europane rec. I would also mention Sabor on Colorado near Oak Knoll. Had a pretty good latte from there just the other (cold) night.
