Joes the Unchain- Anyone been here?

  • 8

I live near Kirkwood highway and keep noticing this place in the plaza near Kohls. I'd love some feedback if anyone has any!

  1. I was there about a year ago, nice place, food was ok, good choice of beer. That was lunchtime and it was quite busy, i think the fact that it has survived says something about the place.

    1. Wonderful when it first opened -- their specialty was lots of creative side dishes that you could build a meal out of. Apparently that didn't go over quite so well, so their menu was drastically revised to the point that the 'Unchain' became just like every other chain around... Sigh.

      1. Probably last ate there at least a year ago. Liked the retro/modern decor. Food was good and there were a few interesting things on the menu but, thought the portions were pretty small for the prices. I'd meet a friend halfway for lunch but wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

        1. This place closed about a month ago. Drove by and noticed it all dark and lonely. Was there twice and really good place for cheap beer and drinks, but food was just ok. Wonder what will take it's place?

          1. Probably not a Boston Market...btw ever notice how grimy the one in Prices Corner is? Yuk!

Are you being sarcastic, Blue? It was a Boston Market before it was Joe's! And, the one on Pennsylvania Avenue is grimier and they are out of half the side dishes most of the time...

Yeah, I remembered Joe's was a BM years ago. Some Boston Market locations are truly scary! Fortunately the one on 202 in Talleyville seems to be pretty clean.
