I live in the East Bay and have friends visiting that are staying in SF. I would like to either nosh at some booths at the Farmers Market- name some places please- is Hayes St. still there with booth? Others? Or if the weather is rainy, are their places nearby that serve breakfast? This is the Saturday market I am asking about. Thanks, Diane

I am unable to stop eating the offerings at the Primavera booth for breakfast to try anything else. The huevos rancheros, the chilaquiles, the tamales... all so MMMM MMMMM good!!! Homemade sauces, perfectly ripe slices of avocado, well spiced beans on the side.

I have actually gone to the Farmer's Market just to eat their food for breakfast. Really. Well, and maybe get some strawberries too. :-)

As I have said before, I have to dissent on both the chilaquiles and the huevos rancheros at Primavera. The eggs in the huevos are poached, which says it all for me (not a good thing), and the chilaquiles are basically glorified nachos....also, I've had dishes served cold that should be hot. Had the same problem at Mijita, but at least you can sit indoors at Mijita, which might be its best point if it rains. And yes Hayes is still there...Their bacon always looks good, though I haven't tried it.

my favorite breakfast is either something from the Acme stand, or oysters from the Hog Island stand next to Primavera, or both...

noshing for breakfast is definitely possible...

if this is the taqueria stand i'm thinking of...

i was once strolling back there as they were starting to close, and they sold me 4 tacos al pastor, with neiman ranch pork, for $1 each, one at a time. i was powerless before them, and kept finishing one, going back for another.
"uno mas"
out of cilantro?
"esta bien, uno mas"
no hay cebollas?
"bueno, uno mas"
it had become a prayer
"uno mas"
and so it went until i literally ate their ultimate taco.

the tortillas were warm fragrant dark chewy flatcakes of corn. the meat, riquisimo.
