Anybody been to Old Bowie Town Grille?

I need a casual place with good appetizers/burgers/seafood for a small but festive party of 15. I read that the burgers were good, but that entrees were overpriced-although I have seen the menu and I don't consider seafood dishes for under $20 and steak prices in the mid-$20s to be overpriced. Please share reviews-good, bad and indifferent-please. I am booking this party from out of town-YIKES! Of course I'm sending someone to check it out, but Chowhound feedback is essential. Thank you.

I think I was the one who wrote that OBTG was overpriced. For its location and the kind of place the Grille intends to be, I still believe food prices are $2-3 above what they ought to be. Nevertheless, for a "festive party of 15 looking for good appetizers/burgers/seafood," I think OBTG is right up your alley and you'll enjoy yourselves. Upstairs is noisy with live music most nights, downstairs is not.

By the way, Jerry's Seafood is coming to Bowie - taking over the failed Bistro Fish (once Tony Roma's) location across from the Bowie Town Center on Rte 197.

Great news about Jerry's. I always thought the name "Bistro Fish" was kinda funny. As if they originally were going to call it "Bistro Poissons" but thought it sounded too much like "poison" which didn't test really well with Bowie audiences.

And Tony Roma's was just a deepfried nightmare: cornsyrup "barbecue," inept waitstaff, and something called an "onion loaf" that the waiter wouldn't stop pushing.

I've been for lunch on the weekend early. It wasn't loud, but the food was just okay. Problem is, you're in Bowie, which isn't noted for its food.

It may be worth the drive just to go to Seabrook and book a party at Jerry's Seafood. About 15 minutes from Old Bowie.

I find the Old Bowie Town Grille okay also. I like most of the starters and desserts. The salads are good too. But the entrees seem to have bit of a creole twist that I don't care for. And you can't go wrong with their beers. I would avoid Friday and Saturday nights, I think they bring in live music. I think of it as a locals place. I have not been there for lunch, are they even open for lunch? The area of Old Bowie is still in need of good locally owned restaurants, not chains. I have been there for St. Patricks day and it is a lot of fun.
