Rockenwagner -- it's open

glutton Jan 16, 2007 11:32 PM

My wife told me today that the new Rockenwagner restaurant on Abbot Kinney is now open. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone eaten there yet? I'm in love with his baked goods, which I buy at his bakery on Washington Blvd in Mar Vista...

The mass e-mail I got from them over the weekend indicated that the bakery would open today but the Cafe was not quite ready yet. If I recall, the name is Three Square Bakery and Cafe.

Yup - Three Square bakery is open - pretty much the same set up as their R bakery... just a more upscale and if my memory serves me correctly, the prices are more varied and a little higher on some of their baked goods. Had the basic cinnamon roll, mixed berry scone, and bacon/cheese scone - $9 for the three... very good. However, all those yuppies who think they're Dogtowners are slithering all over the place... The guy who runs R - Wolf - he was really schmoozing it up with them... can't blame him but not the same Wolf as at R. Definitely not the same vibe as R.

The cafe has yet to open - talked with the architect/owner. Sez the cafe will hopefully open in a couple of weeks - just few more things to tweek. Sez the cafe will be serving breakfast,
lunch and dinner, so they really need to have all of their ducks lined up before opening... check out the cool tables that slide in and out of the cafe front windows - this architect really put his heart and soul into this building...

Triplecreme blog has a review - this gal is all over the place and is going through a baked goods binge as am I...
