carmel get away

We are going to Carmel for the weekend at the end of the month. We are open to all types of good food. We can go to Monterey also. If someone can recommend a place for fried chicken and breakfast places that would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance.

    1. We went last month and even though we go often we had never driven the whole 17 mile dirive and it was fun. We actually read the map with all of the historical facts.
We also went to the Carmel mission for the first time, very beautiful.

I know you asked about breakfast and we always stay in a b&b so I only have a dinner reccomendation. We usually go to the Roy's at the Inn at Spanish Bay. It is on the 17 mile drive and you have to tell the gate that you are going to the hotel to eat and they will not charge you a fee.
If you go at sunset they have a bagpiper on the golf course and there are outside fire pits to have drinks. Roy's is Hawaiian fusion, it is large and beautiful. Check out the LA board for recent reviews of the new Roy's in downtown LA.

Passionfish gets good reviews on the boards as well. It is close to the Pacific Grove entrance to the 17 mile drive.
A chef friend said he just had a great meal there so it is on our list for next time.

If we are driving north from Monterey we save breakfast for Gayle's bakery in Capitola. The best American stlye pastry I have had anywhere. They also have a deli and rotisserie chicken for take out. It would ba a great stop for a picnic luch to pick up for a senic spot on hwy 1.
