Degustation in EV???

I have done a search and have not found much written about this place. Can anyone give a report/comment on the food and the experience; I am considering it for an early dinner next week before a show on Lafayette St. Cannot find it on menupages, either...am I missing something here?

  1. Went for dinner for the first time a few months ago - memorable meal, great service, very accommodating. Can't wait to return. Counter seating only overlooking food prep area. Virtually everything ordered was wonderful and distinctive. All in the party were wowed. A bit puzzling why it isn't mentioned here more often. Very highly recommended.

    1. I think people are saving it for themselves. Definitely enjoyed.

      1. Went last Friday for my wife's birthday. Sampled most the menu and their wasn't one clunker. Be aware it is an open kitchen setting with only 16 seats which I enjoyed. I thought the prices were quite reasonable for the quality of ingredients and thought put into the food. Loved the rabbit, pork belly, lamb, etc. Reasonable wine list as well.

        1. I went there about 3 months ago. Nothing was bad, but I can't remember a single dish, and that is not a good thing. The service was a little choppy, in part becasue the space is ridiculously small. What I remember best was having to move again and again so they could lay out new cutlery. It's overpriced for what it is.

          1. Erica, I am also planning on checking out Degustation and was glad to see some posts on it, mostly positive! In case you haven't seen, here's a link to nice write-up from NY Magazine:

Thanks very much to all who replied. This is at the top of my list; did not go last week because "had" to eat at Joe's Pub. ($18.00 (!!!) hamburger was not too bad)

            2. Degustation was a memorable dinning experience, a great place to go on a date or with a good friend. Definitely would not go with more than one other person since you sit around the open kitchen. The staff was friendly and the food was delightful. I remember each course’s tasteful and visual attributes.

              1. Erica,
I posted the following review after eating there, and really enjoying myself, a while back: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/234774

Not sure how much the menu's changed, but the kitchen showed enough dexterity that I'm sure whatever they are making will both taste good, and be interesting as well.

                1. Don't walk there, RUN!

                  1. I ate there when it first opened in the spring and was very underwhelmed with the food as well as the winelist.
