Village Pub - fresh opinions?
Come Thursday, I'll be dining at the Village Pub in Woodside for the first time...I searched this board and read some old posts--most were quite positive--but I wonder if any 'hounds have eaten there more recently, and have either recommendations or caveats?
Thanks for any information you can offer...

Rapini - don't know how your dinner went in Jan, but I was there with my family (incl 2 kids ages 6 and 9) for a birthday dinner last night.
Pluses - awesome service, lovely room, nice atmosphere, treated the kids very well, would have made them almost anything they requested. Carrot soup was very good - they brought little tasters for the kids so they would have something to munch on during the appetizer course. Seared day boat scallops (appetizer) and seared spicy tuna (entree) also excellent. Nice steak frites on the pub menu - good fries. Hot chocolate dessert with homemade marshmellows is nice, great tangerine sorbet and choc gelato for the kiddies.
Minuses - Thyme roasted sea bass was just ok, prices are high for what you get.
They were very flexible for the kids, but did charge me $20 for simple pasta with butter and cheese. Now if you factor in the "free" carrot soup taster, maybe it's a little more palatable. I'm still on the fence on that! Kid#2 had steak frites which was $25, and seemed much more reasonable.
All that aside, my caveat is that we do go a couple of times/year so I think the overall experience is very nice, but it's not for everyone. A lot of expense-account diners there last night.

re: Pinkster
I enjoyed my meal very much, and my colleagues seemed to enjoy theirs...however, I must say that the food prices are on the spendy side...as for the wine list, I'm not criticizing the quality or selection, but the prices were off the hook...I'd certainly return, because the experience was very good overall, but I'll wait for payday...
