Leaving this week for Merida. I've read this is cochinita pibil country, of which I am a BIG fan. any recommendations? Any other musts to try or avoid? Also big into fish/seafood.

Try los Gran Almendros for really tasty cochinita pibil. I personally could not get enough of the sopa de lima. I would recommend that you stay away from the smoked sausage called longanisa. It is almost a black sausage and most people find it WAY too smokey. I couldn't stand it myself. Also, try the honey it has a really different taste to it.
You will not go hungry in the Yucatan...
    Happy eating!
