Noticed that there wasn't a recent review on Sunset Beach so I thought I'd put my review in here.
The space is quite nice - all light wood and white. We had made reservations to get the table upstairs that's sits right across from the bar. I felt like we had a private room, which was nice.
Service was outstanding throughout. Waiter was pleasant, informative, helpful and good looking to boot. We got a drink at the bar before dinner and the bartender was equally capable. It was really nice that we didn't encounter any attitude from anyone here.
We started with the Pumpkin Soup (a special) since the birthday girl in our party raved about having it in the past. The soup was good - had a hint of curry to it. I think actually it wasn't pumpkin-y enough, but that's becuase I love pumpkin anything!
My entree was the Duck, which came out nice and tender, but a little overdone (I had asked for medium) and salty. It was acommpanied by a "bao" which I thought was horrible - it was a mix of salty meat and sweet bread that just didn't work like it does when you get a cha-siu-bao at Chinese restaurants. I tried a bite of someone's Fish Taco and thought the fish was very fresh and nicely done. We had 3 people who also ordered the Filet Mignon Burger and all of them scarfed it down so it must've been good. I grabbed a few truffle fries off of a friend's plate and they were nice skinny fries with just a hint of truffle oil.
In total, I was really pleasantly surprised. The food was good, especially considering that most of the dining on the strip is horrible. Prices were okay (drinks are ~$10, Entrees from $15-$30). And, the nice eye-candy and good service makes this a place that I would recommend.
