has anyone been to montarra in algonquin?

I have beenthinking of trying - it recieved a nice write up in the trib and the area has very few non chain nice restaurants. If you can't recommend this - do you recommend anything else.

  1. Actually, there are quite a few non-chain restaurants in Algonquin - you just need to get off of Randall Rd. which seems to be a culinary wasterland (and overcrowded):

Here are some others of note:

    Bellinos Steak & Martini Bar
    8 S Main St,
    Algonquin, IL 60102

    Upscale steakhouse.

    Port Edward - Map
    20 W Algonquin Rd,
    Algonquin, IL 60102

One of the few good seafood options in McHenry Co.

    Gourmet House
    1740 E Algonquin Rd,
    Algonquin, IL 60102

An old frozen custard place that has become a very good white tablecloth Chinese restaurant.

    21 W Algonquin Rd # 24,
    Algonquin, IL 60102

Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar has received a lot of raves from a couple of my employees.

    Bistro Wasabi
    4590 Algonquin Road,
Lake In the Hills, IL 60102
    Phone: (847) 515-2700

Highly recommended for sushi. We entertain clients there periodically.

There is a new Italian place on S. Main that has opened up recently and an Indian restaurant located on Algonquin Rd. in the Butera shopping center.

If you need other McHenry Co. recommendations, there are plenty more. I will admit that there are fewer options as compared with Schaumburg or Chicago but ... it is not all that abd.

    1. Montarra is absolutely devine. The food is great, the ambiance is excellent, all in all - very wonderful. The new Italian place is called Bella Cucina - with an upscale breakfast place next door. We used to be quite regular patrons of Bistro Wasabi until Kaminari came along. Very innovative, fun sushi. Good cooked dishes and a great atmosphere. Also, jlawrence, believe it or not, Bellino's is gone. It became Osterio something briefly, and now it's martinis on main.

      1. The food at Montarra is awesome. My wife and I have been waiting forever for a fine dining experience in the area. you will not be dissappointed
