Wonderful as a topping for fresh fruit, fruit salad, fruit pie, cobbler, quick bread, cake, etc.

Sliced bananas covered with sour cream and dark brown sugar heavily sprinkled on top. The sugar "melts" into the sour cream and creates a sauce. This is a good, fast brunch dish when you need a fruit component.

My grandmother used to make mamaliga, which is basically just the Romanian version of sweetened cornmeal mush/polenta and put cold sour cream and sugar on top of the hot mush. It was a delicious breakfast. It could be topped with berries/jam/pie filling, too.

A great (casual) way to serve/eat fresh strawberries is with a bowl of sour cream and a bowl of brown sugar. Dunk a berry in the sour cream, then dip into sugar and eat. YUM...

I LOVE this combination. So simple and so good.

And a sprinkling of fruit-compatible liqueur (e.g. triple sec) is a nice flavor addition.
