Sour Cream & Brown Sugar (Prefer Dark)

Wonderful as a topping for fresh fruit, fruit salad, fruit pie, cobbler, quick bread, cake, etc.

  1. And a sprinkling of fruit-compatible liqueur (e.g. triple sec) is a nice flavor addition.

    1. A great (casual) way to serve/eat fresh strawberries is with a bowl of sour cream and a bowl of brown sugar. Dunk a berry in the sour cream, then dip into sugar and eat. YUM...

I LOVE this combination. So simple and so good.

      2. My grandmother used to make mamaliga, which is basically just the Romanian version of sweetened cornmeal mush/polenta and put cold sour cream and sugar on top of the hot mush. It was a delicious breakfast. It could be topped with berries/jam/pie filling, too.

        1. Sliced bananas covered with sour cream and dark brown sugar heavily sprinkled on top. The sugar "melts" into the sour cream and creates a sauce. This is a good, fast brunch dish when you need a fruit component.
