Fortune Reston is gone

We headed to Fortune Reston today to find the sign gone and the windows painted over. There was nothing on the door to indicate what happened so I assume they haven't relocated.

I have mixed feelings about this. Fortune Reston had acceptable but not great dim sum and, if you ordered carefully, some very good seafood dishes for dinner. But the place was badly in need of renovation and their dishwashing machine never seemed to do a particularly good job of cleaning plates and such.

On the other hand, it was 5 minutes from my house and this leaves us with no real dim sum options out here in the western Fairfax burbs.

I'll cross my fingers and hope for something good in the space.

Never knew ya'..... It's a bit surprising though, that as many chinese people there are in Fairfax Cty, there isn't a heavy concentration of good chinese restaurants outside the beltway unlike in Montgomery Cty along Rockville Pike. Even within the beltway, most of the joints are chinese vietnamese.

It was a tough location though. The bagel place that imo was so much better than Einstein met the same fate last year.

I'm guessing you also saw that the Korean place on Elden also closed. We went with some regularity and always had good food and service, but it was always empty and cold (as in they never turned the heat up very high).

All in all, if we had more hounds in the area, some of these places would surely last longer.
