Cedar Key?

HIW Jan 14, 2007 05:09 PM

We are going to be in Cedar Key for 6 nights. Looking for restaurant recommendations in the area. We love seafood, local flavor, etc. We will be traveling with a well-behaved 4 yr old (who also loves seafood) so nothing too high end, please... Thanks in advance!

Trust me you will have no trouble. First time visitor to Cedar Key?

For such an out of the way place, there is surprisingly a large number of outstanding restaurants. I have never had a bad meal there.

i've never been to cedar key, but your post made me start looking around and now i want to go and visit just for the seafood! -- and perhaps the natural beauty of the place as well ;)

It's very rustic. Nothing about Cedar Key is touristy!

The Island Hotel & Restaurant are not to be missed as a slice of Old Florida!

I noticed that the original post was dated Jan 14, 2007, almost a year ago. HIW, how about a trip report. Donna and I visited Cedar Key a few years ago and my impression was that it was probably as close to being the way Fl was before the big tourist and population explosion as could be imaginaged. I visited with my parents, Treasure Island in 1952 and there was only one or two resorts on the whole little key!
