I think Lindt 70% is still the best. They also have 85 and 99%. Also been really liking Green and Black's organic lately - can find it at Whole Foods. The ginger's very interesting.

I like the Lindt dark chocolate with mint, and the intense pear, and the intense orange. Yum! The 70% is good, but the 85% isn't my kind of thing. It's a little too bitter for me.

Lindt 85% is super bitter. 70% is bitter but devourable in one sitting (be careful!) I also recommend the Intense Orange, as well as the bar with praline almond. I've heard ScharffenBerger has some of the highest quality but it's hard to find.

I've seen the ScharffenBerger at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. But I didn't try it yet.

What I DID try for about the same price as the ScharffenBerger from TJ's was the Lime flavored dark chocolate (organic) bar from Dagoba. What a disappointment! It was almost $3 for a medium sized bar. It's hard, it doesn't melt in my mouth, and it doesn't taste like lime. I also bought their drinking chocolate (unsweetened) and I like Hershey's better. How does that company stay in business?

Theo Venezuelan 91%. You have to really like bitter flavors, but if you do, this is the chocolate for you. Husband prefers Santander from Colombia - 70%. Both available at Whole Foods Market or internet order or Amazon.

If you want a full tour of dark chocolate, go to Richart at 55th, just east of 5th. (It looks like a jewelry store, but it's a chocolate shop). They have a dark chocolate tasting set that offers a stack of thin wafers of each of 9 varieties of dark chocolate from different parts of the world in different percentages of cocoa mass.

You can have a chocolate tasting party as you do side-by-side comparison.

For full pleasure, be sure to read their tasting instructions:
