Good Take out food

cheesehead in recovery Jan 14, 2007 01:54 PM

I'm so not motivated to cook, and have the 'fam comming over to watch that big game....Since Zathmary's is gone, and whole foods is really expensive, can anyone reccommend other good take out places for salads & entrees that are healthy and tasty?

The Russian stores in the area (Bazaar on Beacon St just west of Coolidge Corner, Berezhka on Comm Ave at Harvard Ave, and the larger Bazaar on Cambridge St. in Allston) all sell a good variety of very tasty prepared salads and other foods. Not all would qualify as "healthy," but some would. Their prices are way below Whole Foods, too!

In fact, for any sorts of ingredients commonly used in Russian cooking, like beets, feta, Eastern European charcuterie, smoked salmon, and salmon caviar, they offer much better prices (and selection!) than you'll find elsewhere.
