Mandalay Restaurant on California Street, Surprisingly good!

I have to say that I probably won't be dining at Burma Super Star too much anymore now that I've discovered Mandalay. It's only a few blocks from Burma Super Star, but there isn't a line and I found the food to be better! They have some excellent lunch specials including the curry chicken with balada! Yum! We also tried their tea leaf salad, which I liked more than Burma's. It had a bit more flavor from the tea leaves, no lemon and no tomatoes. We also tried their rainbow chicken which had excellent flavor of mangoes and pineapple and not greasy at all. The menu is a combination of Burmese and Mandarin cuisine. Also, their ginger tea was delicious! Much tastier and presented more beautiful than Burma's. Try it out and let me know what you think too... I've only gone there once, but I will definitely be back.

  1. Join the club! I was surprised at how much better my recent visit was than before, plus spruced up decor.

Burma SS's tea salad is one of its weakest dish, so no surprise there.
