I have a great recipe for coconut layer cake that I am dying to make. Anyone know where I can buy frozen grated coconut, hopefully in west Toronto/Etobicoke? Or know if I can substitute fresh grated coconut?? Thanks.
Thank you all for the info - I might try both frozen and fresh and see how they compare!
I bought mine at that large, new, subterranean Chinese grocery on Gerrard just east of Broadview.
I'm not 100% certain, but I think I've seen it in NoFrills, especially in the Asian/Philipino section of frozen fish and foods.
I don't live in your area but I find frozen grated coconut in Asian groceries. Freshly grated coconut is quite traditional in most coconut cake recipes.
