Thai Nakorn Update

Stopped by Thai Nakorn to see what could be found.
Happened that the owner and many of the employees where hanging out.

They are planning to rebuild, ASAP!

The fire marshalls finished their investigation Thursday and it's now OK for the insurance company and contractors to get started.

The place is gutted and, with the exception of a couple walls, will be a complete rebuild.
The owner said that as important as the bid is, the time to completion will be one of the biggest considerations.
They are anxious to get back in operation.

Business is more than just money to most Thais.

  1. Thanks for sharing this info with us. We enjoyed a really good meal at Thai Nakorn and look forward to returning.

    1. Yikes, Curt: Are you talking about the Garden Grove one, or another former location? If Garden Grove, then the news makes me sad. If not, then you really gave me a scare!

        Yes, the Garden Grove one.

The original location in Buena Park closed some time ago, because the whole strip mall was being demolished & redeveloped.

      2. The Garden Grove one. it burned down earlier this week. Glad to hear that they plan to rebuild with the insurance money, and we're looking forward to the "grand" opening. Maybe we can make a Chowhound event out of it?

I'd love to attend, if this idea is followed up on - is there a So Cal Chowhound list like those in the Bay Area? And if so, can someone point me to it?

I look forward to visiting Thai Nakorn when it's rebuilt, as I hadn't gotten there before the fire.

        2. Thanks for the update! I hope I will be able to visit again when I'm back in Anaheim in 2008. In the meantime it looks like it's time to give Bangkok Taste a try.

          1. They will surely be open by 2008.
They have a lot of pride in their restaurant and can't wait to open again.
Unlike the Buena Park location, the family owns this spot.

Curt, I think you meant to say Mission Viejo, not Buena Park? BP location is long gone. MV is still around under the same name, but sold off to someone whose food isn't near as good.
