Seems like wine and cheese bars/restaurants are popping up like crazy. What's the best one?

Bottlerock in Culver City is nice, I like the open any bottle concept.

they have a great wine selection, but the food is terrible...I once asked the owner if he'd thought of upgrading the menu and he just shrugged and said he didn't have to. I'm a local and would really love a great East Side wine bar with great food.

If Pasadena is not too far, you might try Vertical Wine bistro at 70 N. Raymond, across the street from Xiomara, Yujean Kangs, etc.

            should provide some help.
Not sure about the cheese aspect, but the wines are definitely there.
