Phoenix area steakhouses

I will be staying in paradise Valley. I would appreciate recommendations for a good steakhouse. I don't like Drinkwaters (bad service several times, bad music other times, ok food, but nothing fantastic) I've enjoyed Maestros (I know it's in the same group but if's far) It seems that there are a couple of new places around Camelback, and I'd appreciate any insite.

The Grill at the TPC at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is a more subdued ambiance. The steaks are dry aged and wonderful as are the side dishes. The meal starts off w/ hot popovers cooked in bacon drippings followed by a wonderul bread basket with roasted head of garlic!
    We have never been disappointed!

    Enjoy!

The Grill at TPC is so good and it's not one of the HOT spots to get a great steak. It's a lot quieter than anything in the Mastro's group, which is nice when you don't want to deal with noise.

The capital Grille at the Biltmore on Camelback is great. Excellent service, good wine list and great steaks.

The only meat that is of the Prime grade at the Capital Grill is the ribeye. I like their steak sandwich at lunch (good value).

There are many great steakhouses in phx/scottsdale and paradise valley. El Chorro, however, should not be mentioned in the same breath as Donovan's, Drinkwater's and Durant's. We have big steak meals monthly and truly appreciate steak. All three of these places only serve PRIME beef, either wet aged or dry aged. El Chorro could be the most overrated restaurant in history. The view and location and history are wonderful. The food is the definition of mediocre.

Ditto on the El Chorro comments. Great view and ambience . . . below average food. Best steakhouses in Phx/Scottsdale are Capital Grille or Mastros. Try the north scottsdale location of Mastros instead of downtown Scottsdale, whish used to be Drinkwaters. This location is much more quiet and doesn't get the "in" after work crowd that downtown Scottsdale gets. I still, however, prefer Capital Grille's Kona Rub on anything but especially on the bone-in ribeye. Phenomenal. Every person whom I've ever taken to CapGrille has tasted & loved the Kona Rub. It doesn't sound good (coffee, brown sugar, shallots) but it really brings out a great taste in the steak and forms a delicious crust on it as well. If you like rubs etc on your steaks, this will be your favorite.

                    Try Donovan's for sure.

ditto the third time for el charro, went to meet my family one night not only was the food just OK, and the service was just fine, but the drinks were incredibly weak which is a pet peeve of mine. i had 4 margaritas(which is a LOT for me) and didnt feel a thing! the view is great though.

Went to capital grille for mothers day this year and everything was delicious, they gave us an amuse bouche of their special for the night, seared mahi, which was delicious, shared the lobster mac and cheese which went very quickly for our group, and everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. although i do try to avoid chains, capital grille seems to do it right every single time

The Ocean Club at Kierland is the best of both worlds as it has a great seafood selection but a full line of Mastro's steaks. My fav is the bone in ribeye!!!
