Looks like Taqueria Chihuahua is FINALLY reopening!

Moose Jan 11, 2007 10:05 PM

I was walking past the location on Venice & Ingelwood that has had a small banner sign on it for the better part of 6 months, and I see they have installed a real sign on top of the building. I can only guess that they are finally getting close to reopening. Since my office is almost a stone's throw from there, looks like I won't be needing to take so many treks to Sanchez & Don Felix when I need my taco/burrito fix! I sure miss their salsa roja, al pastor burritos & tacos, & yummy nachos. Hopefully the new incarnation will be as good as the last one on Olympic, maybe even with some improvements like better service.

Taqueria Sanchez really has been excellent in everything I've ordered there -- those tasty shrimp tacos, a piquant spiced al pastor, good succulent carnitas. Pleasant service, clean, happy!

My new find on the westside is El Super Taco, in the former Mama Voula's space on the N/E corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Brockton, a block or two east of Bundy. Good grilled tacos, very friendly, a very spicy habanero salsa along with the usual on the salsa bar, and they serve grilled onions with the dollar tacos.

        Nosh,

I find Sanchez way too salty across the board,(even the salsas suffer from salt overkill) although the shrimp tacos are certainly good.

I tried El Super Taco a few weeks ago after reading Bandini's review and was terribly disappointed - everything was drowned in grease. I could have gone on an off day, so I may give it another try. Based on that one experience, though, I found Tacos Flama on Pico to be much better.
