Lulu's Bake Shoppe on Hanover St. in the North End

Anybody been there? If so, what is/isn't good? I have a serious jonesing for some Red Velvet cake and I understand that Lulu's sells it.

Actually, the red velvet cake isn't bad, and the specialty cupcakes, like the faux Hostess and the carrot cake, are pretty good too. But the just plain cupcakes? Exceedingly nasty. You'd get better in the bakery department at Stop and Shop, that's how bad they are.

Which I just don't understand. I mean...cupcakes! It's in their name! WHY are they the worst thing on the menu?

I too would love to know where to find some real red velvet cake -- with the layers vs. cupcake, too.
