Special Dessert Place- Southern Maine?

cheesecake Jan 10, 2007 04:09 PM

Hello. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up next month on a Saturday(not around Valentine's Day) He has a committment from 6:00-8:30 p.m. but thought I'd take him out for a special birthday dessert. We live in Biddeford so we could go up to the Portland area, down toward Kennebunk or Portsmouth...

Do you have any ideas of a place we might go to celebrate. Of course, somewhere that they won't mind that we are "only" ordering dessert and drinks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Give the Kennebunk Inn a call, they serve dinner until 9 but probably could handle you for dessert & drinks a little later, maybe in the bar area?. After all, 8:30 dinner guests aren't ordering dessert until 9:30 or so. Check out their dessert menu online, it's not extensive, but it's good stuff! Fantastic hot chocolate! You could even spend the night at the inn!

A few I would recommend in Portsmouth are The Dunaway Restaurant, located right across from Prescott Park, so you could take a stroll along the Piscataqua after dessert.

Lindbergh's Crossing, tucked in along the waterfront, would be nice as well.

After dessert you could head to the Portsmouth Brewery for a pint or two.

MC Perkins Cove in Oguinquit has a spectacular view and looks like they open in February.

A nice place to go would be Five Fifty-Five in Portland, ME (http://www.fivefifty-five.com/). It's a very nice restaurant that has recently opened up the Point Five lounge directly adjacent to the restaurant, which would be an ideal place to go for dessert/cheese plate and drinks.
