Poppa B. in Mattapan?

The article in the Globe today described this soul food place and mentioned a smoker for their ribs (3-4 hours over hickory). I searched the Boston board without luck. Is it possible that hounds have missed a local chowfind? Anyone been to Poppa B.'s and how is it?

My point exactly. Chowhounds are usually 6 months ahead of the media on such matters. I hope it's great and will try to make it there next week.

It's definitely not the Pit Stop (which is still the Pit Stop and going strong), and from the map on their website (www.poppab.com) it looks like they're on Blue Hill Ave a few blocks inbound from Morton.

It sounds GREAT (and cheap) - I hope it's as good as it sounds. I'm kind of embarrassed to be reading it in the Globe, though -- aren't they supposed to steal tips from US?!? Especially since I live pretty nearby and drive down Morton street all the time. Apparently I need to walk down Blue Hill Ave. more often and be on the lookout for chow. I'll report back when I try it.

Having worked in that area not long ago.. I'm thinking of 2 possibilities.. either the BBQ place on morton st. (was/is called pit stop bbq?)at the foot of the bridge between dot ave and blue hill, or the mobile Cart at the car wash across from the Grossmans/simco strip mall.. either renamed ??

Just saw that article and was wondering the same exact thing. Plus they have shoestring sweet potato fries. mmm. May have to check it out soon.
