Chefmate Tri-ply 8pc. set

I am new to cooking and need all new pots and pans. I got an All-clad grill pan as a present and wanted a basic set to tide me over until i get married in about 1.5 years (registry!).

Anyways, Target has a Chefmate set of tri-ply cookware on clearance now for 50 bucks. Here is what is included:

-5 qt. dutch oven, covered
-8 inch skillet, 10 inch skillet
-1 qt. saucepan, 2qt. saucepan, both covered.

Is this a good deal? I really like the All-clad SS, but don't have the scratch right now...I am in medical school. ANY info would be greatly appreciated (I already have a cast iron skillet, too, so that need not be recommended).

Thanks.

  1. If you're only using it for a little while, and you're expecting to get better stuff in a little over a year, why not get something cheap now that you can use forever? I'd say go to your local hardware store and get some lodge cast iron.
