If you know of an attractive, intimate space, possibly a private room for a book group with the author in Manhattan. I was thinking something with an exotic twist, oysters? mid range to a little pricey.Approximately 10 people. Many thanks, new to Chowhound.

      Village?
      62 West 9th

Upstairs balcony is relatively intimate. French, retro and hip. They have oysters. Very accommodating. If you want truly excellent food or need a quieter space, probably not for you, though.

What a delightful request. But, 'with the author'? The Lotos Club should suit, should one of your number be a member.
