Perbacco report- thanks SF chowers for the rec
Based on positive comments from Bay chowers, took a group to Perbacco the week after Christmas and had a great experience. There were conflicts and changes in our reservation that required multiple calls to the restaurant; they were gracious about it.
The restaurant had a nice look and plenty of upbeat energy, but was still quiet enough for conversation. The upstairs, where we sat, was a bit warmer, which we all appreciated.
Since people arrived at different times, several of us started off at the bar. The bartender was very knowledgable and offered small pours to settle quandries as to which wine to order. His suggestion (Due Uve [sp?]) was just what I was looking for. He also provided brand details on a Limoncello that the group decided was the best-tasting. Above and beyond the call, and he pretty much set the tone for the evening.
Here're the dishes we had. None disappointed.
APPS: Salumi misti, Fritto Misto of Rockshrimp, and Roasted Red and Gold Beets.
FIRST COURSE: Agnolotti Dal Plin ("Fabulous"), Parpardelle, Radichio salad.
MAINS: Pan Roasted Chicken, Monkfish, Pork Shoulder.
There was some repetition in selection, obviously. Kitchen also handled a minor recipe adjustment for the one child in the group with no fuss. Very solid performance by the server, and he contributed another good wine recommendation.
We were actually too full to try cheese or dessert options, which was disappointing. But look forward to trying them on another visit.
The Bay Area folks in the group said they'd return (one for lunch instead of Tadich next door). The LA folks agreed, only it will probably be longer between visits...
