Looking for good food & excellent service in JACKSONVILLE, FL - near Phillips Hwy?

I'm looking for a local upscale but not too upscale (no chains) restaurant with excellent service as close as possible to the following address:

2500 Phillips Hwy, Jacksonville, FL 32207

I would like to give a gift certificate. Food type might be continental, American or Italian? Maybe a delicious steak house?

If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

  1. The French Pantry has the best food in town, but they are only open for lunch during the week. There are lots of chain retaurants along Phillips Hwy, but nothing I'd recommend as anything special. French Pantry is not upscale in service, only in food quality. Bistro Aix or other restaurants closer to San Marco would be more white table cloth type places.

    1. I forgot the Metro Diner but their upscaleness is only for dinners for special days like holidays or valentines and by reservation, otherwise they are only open for breakfast and lunch - which is definitely not upscale.

      1. Thanks for the suggestions.

        1. For a wonderful, upscale lunch try Bistro Aix on San Marco. They offer a variety of marvelous dishes, prepared by a chef who knows his way around a kitchen. Try the Shrimp Tagliatelli -- its my wife's favorite. Also, start out with their awsome Smoked Tomatoe Soup.

Here is a link to the lunch menu. You can also get directions from this website, it is not far from the end of Phillips HIghway closest to downtown.

          1. If you're going to San Marco, The Corner Brasserie (on Hendricks, near Bistro Aix) is also delish. If you don't mind going out to the beach area, Dwight's is yummmy.
