Hi,

I'm looking for a local upscale but not too upscale (no chains) restaurant with excellent service as close as possible to the following address:

5900 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28405

I would like to give a gift certificate. Food type might be continental, American or Italian? Maybe a delicious steak house?

If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There are tons of really nice restarants near the intersection of Eastwood Road and Military Cutoff Road. That is only 4 miles (5-10 minutes away).

Caprice Bistro is about ten minutes away (5 1/2 miles)at 10 Market Street. It's reasonably priced French Bistro Cuisine, with excellent service. Not within walking distance, but a simple drive down the road that you're already on.

      The food is authentic.

There's a shining new star restaurant (and chef) in Wilmington. Chef/proprietor Stephen Hilla opened Opus a few months ago in Lumina Station (where Fathoms and Logans used to be). I've eaten here about 6 times already and everything I've had is outstanding. I've also been to events catered by Opus and everyone always raves about the food. If you're a foodie, you gotta check it out. It's right up there (and ofen surpasses) Wilmington's more celebrated restaurants. Opus is open for lunch and dinner (with live music--a flamenco guitarist--on Wednesday eves). ok, I'm getting hungry for their divine pecan-crusted chicken or maybe one of the seafood specials...gotta go!

Opus is great, but I second the recommendation for Marc's. It's my favorite "night off" place, with great food, a good wine list and an atmosphere that works well for a casual treat or an elegant night out. They are consistently wonderful.
