Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in the Tristate Area

Cinnamon Club, Port Washington

Went last night with a group of friends/foodies for the first time. Awful awful! The staff/service was nice enough but the food was about the worst Indian we have ever had. Indian Shrimp appy was fried shrimp covered in sweet n' sour sauce. Calamari, again deep fried & served soggy with sweet sesame sauce. Chicken curry was more like caccitore with not even a hint of curry and covered in fat and was red. Chicken and Lamb Saag was like baby food with no texture and no meat and was filled with minced ginger which made no sense. We wanted to order the Curried fish with coconut curry which was SeaBass ($28) until they told us it too was deep fried. I have no problem paying for a good dish but to charge an additional $5 for rice in an Indian restaurant is absurd. In all respect, I think they are trying to "upscale" classic traditional Indian dishes and they are struggling with how to do just that. Maybe the location is cursed.

  1. Thanks for the review. We were thinking of giving it a try this past Sat. but because the weather was so warm we felt the need to be by the water so went to the Pine Island Grill in Bayville and had great meal. Sounds like C.C. days are numbered.
