Cuban Sandwich

Where in Central New Jersey (with a preference towards Middlesex or Mercer Cty) can I find a decent Cuban Sandwich. My search has lead me to the Mexican Torta Cubana - which is good in its own right, I am left without a traditional Cuban Sandwich in hand.

  1. Actually if you can't find one, just make one. As you know a Cuban Sandwhich is not very difficult to make.
A Cuban, some chips, a beer and a game on the tube; that's living.

    1. Mom's (aka Peppermill) Diner in East Windsor, Rt. 33 West, right at the Hightstown Exit 8 NJ Tpk. entrance has Cuban sandwiches on the menu. Only had it once and don't know how "authentic" it is (I actually didn't care for the pickles they used on it), but it's one of their signature items, apparently.

      1. Try Martino's Cuban Restaurant in Somerville. Although not in Middlesex or Mercer counties, Somerville is pretty easy to get to, especially if you take Rte. 287N or Rte. 206N.

        1. The best Cuban Sandwich in the world is served at Mr. Cubano in Cape Canaveral, FL. They use real Cuban bread baked at Mauricio's Bakery in Tampa, FL. Check out their website, I think they even Fed Ex. cuban sandwich.

          1. Two restaurants owned by the same people, one in Lambertville (Lilly's on the Canal) and the other in Doylestown, Pa (Cafe America) serve a very tasty Cuban sandwich. I have no idea whether they are "authentic" Cuban sandwiches or not, but they certainly taste great. However, the one at Lilly's costs $3 more then the one in Doylestown and is only served at lunch.
