Best sushi in Maui?

I've read some posts saying Maui has surprisingly average sushi but I find it hard to believe. With the access to fresh seafood and the Japanese population, there must be something memorable out there ... Any suggestions?

By Far the best Sushi on Maui is at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. The sushi bar is in the front lobby. I live on the west side of Maui. Sansei is very good, but if you want top quality go to the Ritz. It is not cheap, but when is the best?

You're right. And if you're up on the club floor they serve it there too! BTW, the
club floor is the way to go when staying there!

Surprising, but pretty true - I just order ahi sashimi or some version of seared ahi everywhere & try to get a bit of a fix that way...
