"Waring Pro" WPB series blenders?

Does anyone have one? Know anything about them? A local store (Zabar's, for those in NYC) has a disturbing-on-several-levels "Patriotic Blender" on sale for $40. The fire engine red color is kind of cool actually, but the little American flag faceplate I could only live with if the blender is really kickass, apart from being relatively cheap. It's NOT the same as the big Waring Professional models - the question is whether it just looks sort of like them, or whether they've really put some good engineering into their consumer versions. I've come across very little on the web, apart from a few other deeply discounted sellers, which leads me to be a little suspicious - I smell premature discontinuantion (even of the models without the offensively inappropriate use of the flag.)

  1. I've had one for about 4 years now. It gets moderate use (like, once every couple weeks). I bought it for $80 on some shady home goods website and it's worked well, no problems.
