Kosher bakery in Manhattan

Looking for a kosher bakery for a cake for my daughter's birthday. Any suggestions?

Fairway makes great custom cakes at reasonable prices, and I think Moishe's on 2nd Avenue does good work. their rugalech and some danishes and strudels are fabullous. I think their cheese strudel is good too, but pretty sure they do birthday cakes to order. Gruenebaum (Gideons) in Washnigton Heights always had birthday cakes in stock... I guess they still do though haven't been there in a while

The sheet cake at the East Side branch is pretty incredible. Yellow cake with lemon icing. The fact that it is kosher didn't play into our decision to purchase, and everyone was thrilled with it. In my opinion, their cake is much better than their cupcakes.

I've only had the cupcakes--at their east side location--and they were good (ie not great). :-)

I tried Buttercup once (while scouting it for a friend's birthday cake) and wasn't impressed.

Buttercup is one of those Magnolia spinoffs. It's good.

My most favorite dessert. Also, make sure you check the hashgacha on Greenberg.

Greenberg has good cakes. Fairway has some damn good milchig cakes too.

It's on Madison in the high 70s on the west side of the street.

One good place is William Greenberg. Very good desserts, pretty expensive but worth it. Some people like Crumbs, but I've never tried anything there.

I was on the UES a few weeks ago and tried Crumbs for the first time. It's a good thing for me that they're not located anywhere near where I live. I'd be a frequent customer! Their cupcakes are first rate. Not only beautiful but delicious. They even offer parve cake selections, if pre ordered.
