Best place for a group birthday dinner?

Anyone had a really fun group dinner lately? Trying to figure out a good place for my birthday dinner later this month. Looking for something in the moderate price zone - entrees under $20 - good for a group of 10 or 15, French, American, Middle Eastern, Italian or Indian, downtown Manhattan or Brooklyn. I was thinking of 360 in Red Hook, or upstairs at the Spotted Pig, etc....any other ideas? Thanks!
The best place I've found for large groups in NYC is Cafe Noir on Thompson St at Grand. The primary reason being they are incredibly accomodating when it comes to people arriving (and ordering) at different times...and above all lingering over another bottle of wine, or a late arriving guest who orders another plate. They aren't in the least bit nasty about it, and the place always feels like there are several parties going on at once...without the danger of being ignored or a wait staff that is rude. The food is very good, French/Moroccan "tapas," the one thing is that the food is not quite *exceptional*. The wine list, however, IS exceptional, and they have some of the best wines available by the glass in the city for a place in this price range.
Don't be put off by the Wall Street drinking crowd at the bar. Fight your way to the back, reserve a table, and you'll find it's a very enjoyable spot. I've been going there for YEARS, and actually was thinking about having my birthday party here again this year.
From my experience, other places that accomodate large groups well include Lima's Taste (peruvian) in the west village, Pangea in the east village and Paradou in the meatpacking (very pretty garden, though space can get tight if you have a super large group).
Not moderately priced, necessarily, but I've hosted fun group bday dinners at both locations of Churrascaria Plataforma. Fun atmosphere, drinks, huge salad bar, and meats...
