Ensenada Ceviche & Tijuana Taco [moved from Calif. Board]

  • 6

Ensenada & TJ are more a part of SD then Mexico, which is why I post it here....

Where (as specific as possible) is the best seafood ceviche type cocktail in Ensenada and best street taco in TJ?

I like the tacos at "Taco Bell" in TJ (not the chain), but they seem a bit chewy at times....

& Ensenada I've only had so-so meals overall

Gracias!

  1. There was recently a great article in the SF Chronicle on eats in Ensenada:

I hope the link works - if not, go to sfgate.com and click on the travel link. At the bottom of the page you can search for archieved articles. It ran on November 12.

    1. I was in Ensenada a couple of weeks ago. The best fish tacos I've ever had were from Tacos al Fenix. Super fresh and super tasty. I put away four or five.

This place is about a 15-minute walk away from the touristy city center. It is a taco stand right on the corner, not a sit-down restaurant. It seems to be quite popular with the locals; there was a line the entire time I was there.

Tacos el Fenix, Av. Espinosa at Av. Juárez (Calle 5a). 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. Fish and prawn tacos, $1-$1.25 apiece.

The article i referenced above also recommends Fenix. I've gotta make a trip!

      2. This is more relevant to the California board then the Mexico one, and would have more responses there, as TJ/Ensenada are basically a part of SD.... but ok, it got moved

        Thanks for the responses!

I think people in TJ/Ensenda would like to think that SD is more a part of TJ/Ensenada than California! At least up until 2001... then W srewed it up for everyone.

        2. Echo the sentiments above for Tacos El Fenix in Ensenada. Wonderful stuff - well worth a stop. A small note is that it is located on Av. Espinosa at Calle 6a (a block east of Juarez/5a).
