Looking for casual food near Allstate Arena
...to eat before the 6:00 p.m. Pitt-DePaul game this Wednesday. A search of this board turned up Ram Brewery, Steak & Shake, Shoeless Joe's, Caponie's, and Basilico. Anywhere else? Any opinions on the aforementioned? We'll be traveling on 294 from the south, Joliet.
Thanks.

If you're willing to go as far as Basilico, you might be better served looking at restaurants in the Edison Park neighborhood. My two favorites are Don Juan and Zia's Trattoria [you should be able to find either of these restaurants mentioned here or on LTHforum]. [Elliot's Chop House in Edison Park has been highly recommended, but I can't speak for it first-hand.] My recommendation for Don Juan is always to skip the antojitos and get whatever looks good in the specials or the appetizers.
Logistically, you have to go through extra work to exit 294 to go east on 90 to get to Basilico or Edison Park. Ram is more physically convenient to the Arena, but is no better than average in quality of food OR beer. If you dine in Edison Park, it's a fairly easy task to take surface streets to the Arena.
And as the guy who led me to Amanacer Taptaio, I'm glad to try to steer you to a good dinner. Thanks!
