St Marys GA recommendations please

  • 4

We'll be spending five days in Fernandina Beach FL in March, and wondering if its worth it to drive to St Marys one day for lunch; interested in waterfront restaurant, good seafood, and should be a casual place. Thanks.

  1. We just returned from several days in Fernandina Beach. We stopped in St. Mary's, Georgia on our way home and saw nothing that looked worth a stop. We eventually ate at a Subway in Darien.

    1. Milt, can you recommend anything in the Fernandina Beach area? (waterviews, casual, seafood).

Brett's has very good view coupled with a waterfront location. We had a very enjoyable lunch of peel and eat shrimp and the pasta special at Brett's. Espana, at 22 S 2nd St, was our other lunch stop. We split a Shellfish Casserole (Cazuela de Mariscos), the soup of the day and a house salad and were very pleased with all. Our first dinner was at Down Under. The shrimp dishes were very good, while everything else we had was rather unimpressive. Our other evening meal was at Beech Street Grill. This was where we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and it was an excellent choice. I had Crab Stuffed Shrimp and Janis had Macadamia Grouper. The Bread Pudding we shared for dessert was not as impressive as the entrees.

We had THE BEST MEAL at 29 South in Fernandina Beach this month. I'm a vegetarian, and the chef whipped up an Asian vegetable pasta. The fried green tomatoes with a hint of cheese (goat?) were delicious, and the fish tacos looked great, too. The bread was warm and homemade. They also had a great beer and wine list.
