What happened to Cafe Piccolo in Burlington, VT?

I just noticed it was gone...

I hadn't been there in years, but I use to go there quite frequently when I worked nearby. They were never open on the weekends.

Anyone know? They had the best mac and cheese!

I loved Cafe Piccolo when it was owned by the original owners. After it was sold it was not good. Skimpy portions and yukky! It is for sale... maybe someone will reopen it and bring it back to life!

Thanks guys... I wondered if Phish leaving had something to do with it as well.

I think it's gone for good now... I saw a "for lease" sign out front last weekend.

The owners of Cafe Piccolo decided they had enough of the restaurant business and sold Cafe Piccolo to new owners. Last I knew (9/06) the new owners were running the restaurant under the same name and in the same location (the Maltex building). The general opinion on the new version of Cafe Piccolo seemed to be that the quality has gone down. I can't speak from personal experience as I have not eaten there.

What happened?

Phish broke up and moved out... My guess.

I'm almost embarrassed to say/ask this: I've lived in the Burlington area 30 years, and I've never heard of Cafe Piccolo. Where is/was it?
