    1. Grotto on Beacon Hill.
      La Campania in Waltham.
Trattoria Toscana in the Fenway and Carlo's (both worth repeating).
Zafferano and Carmen's Kitchen in Eastie.
Vinny's at Night near Sullivan Square.
      The Grapevine in Salem, MA.
      Paolo's Trattoria in Charlestown.
      Saporito's in Hull.
      Teatro on Boston Common.

      1. To the great lists above, I'd add La Morra in Brookline; mostly Northern Italian -- Tuscan, Piedmontese.

        1. Il Capriccio in Waltham. Not cheap, but excellent.

          1. Also see the current thread on Pulcinella.

            1. Pippinelle's in Franklin has gone out of business.

              1. West of Boston, Campania at 504 Main Street is the best.

                  1. Here are some good italian restaurants not in the North End.
                    Bocelli's on main st. Medford
                    il-faro's medford sq/main st. Medford
                    artichokes malden center.
                    Bistro 5 in west Medford

                    1. Up my neck of the way, The Colosseum in Salem, NH.

                      1. Always been a fan of Tosca down in Hingham.

                        1. Trattoria Amalfi in Salem NH is FAR SUPERIOR to the Colleseum......

Thats what I thought also until I made a return visit to The Colosseum after a long hiatus. I would call them equally as good now.
