I've read great things but have never been. Is it worth it? Any other suggestions?

Here's a link with past reports on Cyrus so you can judge for yourself.

It is located in healdsburg, so for other suggestions do you want something else in that town? Or elsewhere? Besides geography, what are your other criteria?

I'm looking for a great meal. We have a car so location isn't as important. We have two nights. Oliveto or Chez Panisse or Cyrus or ...

You tell me. Just pick two. Thanks.

This whole site is about great meals, thousands of good places to eat. You might want to watch this thread -

        Michael Mina or Cyrus?

You are aware that Cyrus is about a 2 hour drive from Oliveto making it a four-hour roundtrip for dinner?

Disclaimer: a friend works at Cyrus.

I thought it really was "all that". We were up there for the weekend so the drive was not an issue. And you want to be able to drink as they have both a very talented bartender (Scott) and a knowledgeable sommelier.
The food was outstanding; delicious and creative. The service was great too.

Probably the best meal we have had in the past year or two -- did the paired tasting menu - 6 courses - it was tandem so we got to taste 12 and it was truly exceptional -- got tipped off by the guy who runs the tasting room at J and did the TM at the bar on a whim with no rez -- the bartender rocks and the food was superb...every bit as spectacular as French Laundry and as expensive. If you have the chance - GO!!!

Post note - if you have a second night, I recommend Ravenous.

Good to hear Ravenous is still good. I havn't been there in probably 10 years. We usually like to hit Syrah in Santa Rosa when up that way, but Healdsburg is a nicer place to stay the night...
