Restaurant near Arts Center in Newark, NJ

I'm looking for a restaurant where we can have a nice dinner, then WALK to the Performing Arts Center. I have been to the restaurant in the center itself but would like to try something different.

Lots of people have recommended restaurants in Newark but so far none of them are close to the arts center.

Any suggestions?

There are now two lunch and dinner options in NJPAC. Theater Square Grill is open for lunch and dinner daily with an a la carte menu and the prix fixe menu on performance nights. There is also the new, more casual Theater Square Bistro (the former bar/lounge area) that serves a moderately priced, French bistro-style a la carte menu every night, including weekends. Both take reservations, 973 642 1226. Parking at NJPAC is $1 with lunch every day.
Savoy Grill closed last year.

Yeh, I finally figured out that The Savoy Grill had closed. A shame because it started out so well. I actually found a real estate web site that lists the restaurant for sale. It's the same company that has listed The Ryland Inn property for sale.

Maize has had a change of ownership and a recent meal was not good. Theater Square Grill is a better option.

Maize, in the Robert Treat Hotel is nearby. Never been, but I've heard good things.

Also nearby and delicious is the Savoy Grill

More casual, and a couple of blocks further but definitely walkable is an Irish pub style restaurant/bar called Hamilton’s Pub (27 Central Ave).

These are all very close to NJPAC (I work in the area). have fun!

Thanks for the leads. I thought the Savoy Grill had closed so I'm glad to see this is an option.

I have heard about Maize but the on-line reviews are decidedly mixed.
