Anything good right around this shopping area for lunch? Any cuisine.

There are several...Mangia Roma is a good casual italian spot on Halsted just north of North Ave. (good stop if you are shopping at Border's or CB2) At the Sheffield/North Ave. corner you have California Pizza Kitchen. Whole Foods has a number of prepared items. The bookstore, Transitions, has a little cafe. At Clybourn/Willow/Sheffield, there is a Subway. Hope that helps!

I'm partial to Goose Island Brewery; fantastic artisinal beers and above average pub grub with an international twist. The restaurant's in the same building as Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

I second the Goose Island recommendation, and also recommend Pasta Palazzo and Tilli's on Halsted (both south of Armitage), or Uncle Julio's (chain place with decent Mexican/Tex Mex) on North Avenue.

Just my 2 cents, but I think that you definitely can do better than Subway and CPK in that area.

A little farther up is What's the Beef.

Pizza Capri (Halsted and Willow, a block north of North Ave.) has good pizza as well as some tasty salads and pastas.

If you are in this area around dinner time Boka is great, so is the the Black Duck Tavern.

I second Uncle Julio's Hacienda on North just west of Clybourn or Mangia Roma on Halsted just north of Halsted. Also there is J. Alexander's ( it's a Houston's knock-off, but pretty decent in their own right ) on Clybourn just a short walk north of North Ave.

If you do go to Uncle Julio's, try the ribs. They were good when I was last there, about a year ago.
