We've had amazing Persian food in Los Angeles and are looking for the same in the Metro DC area (specifically looking for chicken koobideh). Any recommendations (other than Moby Dick!!)?

Persian food in the DC are at a low point right now. But since you are looking for kabobs, you should be happy with what you find. Many kabob places will offer maybe one stew per day as a special.

I do not recall seeing chicken koobideh anywhere. Probably the best place overall is Shamshirry in Tysons Corner, which is kabobs plus rice dishes, mast-o-khir, torshi, badenjan, doogh. This place has a large Iranian following. Weekend lunches are packed with families.

Shamshiry is excellent. For a less upscale place, I like Yekta Kabob in Rockville.
