pain au chocolat avec amandes
In Paris recently, I had this amazing pastry - which is pretty much like it sounds. A chocolate croissant that also contains almond paste and has sliced almonds on top. Any ideas? Can I find it in Manhattan? If not, is there a fabulous millefeuille?

Interesting - at Via Quadronno awhile ago I ordered a chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat?) and it had almond paste inside - it was delicious and a tasty surprise.

I have to disagree...I had one at Tisserie today, and it was truly AWFUL. I rarely don't finish a pastry, but I couldn't force more than a fifth of this down. It was leaden, mushy, and flat-out WEIRD.
